Austin Friars has a strong reputation in the North of Cumbria and South West Scotland for providing an all round, high quality education which meets the individual needs of each child.
We are proud of the academic achievement of our pupils where our results speak for themselves. The school works hard to create an atmosphere where all students can achieve their best in a wide and varied range of subjects as well as beyond the classroom where we offer an extensive extra curricular programme which ensures that we provide an education for the whole person. Music, creative and physical activity are integral to the curriculum where individual success is celebrated and healthy competition is encouraged.
Christian values are at the heart of the school community which respects and shows consideration for others. Our students are provided with every opportunity to develop their talents to the full, moving towards adulthood in a happy and fulfilling environment where all are valued and encouraged.
Teaching a mostly traditional curriculum we offer all our students the opportunity to pursue a range of options according to their interests and abilities. In a learning environment where class sizes are small, there is an expectation of high standards supported by the careful monitoring of students’ progress. Excellent support is also available for those with specific requirements, such as dyslexia.
Our teachers inspire with their passion for their subjects where every student is important and as a consequence our students are hard working, committed and enthusiastic.
