Welcome from Mr Clark

We believe that learning should be an adventure; one that allows children to take safe risks, work collaboratively and develop the confidence to think independently.

As Head of the Junior School, I am delighted to welcome you to this very special part of Austin Friars.

Our Junior School is a place where curiosity is encouraged, talents are nurtured, and the children are inspired to discover who they are and what they can achieve.

In our classrooms, academic excellence is paired with creativity and a real joy for learning. Technology plays an important role in supporting and extending our curriculum, but we also ensure that children have a healthy balance of experiences beyond the screen.

Art, drama, music, sport, outdoor learning, and our broad co-curricular and after-school provision enrich daily life here. Whether a child is playing in an ensemble, competing on the field, exploring the woods, or discovering a new hobby, they are encouraged to embrace challenge and take pride in their achievements.

Our wonderful school grounds give pupils space to explore, imagine and learn through hands-on experiences. These opportunities help build resilience, teamwork and a deep connection with the world around them. As children move through the Junior School, our close links with the Senior School ensure a seamless and supportive transition, allowing each pupil to continue thriving as they grow.

A cherished part of our community is our historic Chapel - a place where we gather each week to reflect, celebrate and share our successes. It is a reminder of the values that bind us together: kindness, respect and a genuine sense of belonging.

I am enormously proud of the warm, vibrant and nurturing environment we offer. I would be delighted to welcome you to Austin Friars to experience our Junior School for yourself and to see the children’s energy, enthusiasm and joy in learning.

-Mr Jonathon Clark, Head of Junior School
